About Black Cat Group

I started my career in the timber trade at 17, and fire doors have been central to my working life ever since. I have developed extensive hands-on experience in timber, joinery, construction, and the inspection, installation, and maintenance of fire doors.

For several years, I owned and operated my own construction company, carrying out fire door work across public and private buildings. This gave me a clear understanding of the practical challenges involved in fire door safety and the importance of competent, accurate workmanship.

Fire doors are life-safety products. Their performance depends on correct design, materials, components, installation, maintenance and inspection. Defects such as excessive gaps, unsuitable hinges, missing intumescent protection or poor installation can allow fire and smoke to spread and put lives at risk. Understanding these risks requires more than familiarity with regulations and checklists; it requires genuine practical experience.

Today, I use that experience to help inspectors, installers, maintainers and others develop the competence required to work safely and correctly. I deliver fire door training on behalf of an established training provider, with an approach grounded in practical knowledge, attention to detail, honesty and a firm commitment to getting the job right. When lives may depend on the work, good enough is not good enough.
